DEHS is pleased to welcome Shane Eden, Jennifer Keating, Elizabeth Hertz and Andrew Knutson as the firm’s 2007 summer associates.
Shane is a 2005 graduate of South Dakota State University, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in history. At law school, the Alcester, S.D., native is a writer for the South Dakota Law Review and vice president of the Native American Law Students Association.
Jennifer, a native of Willow Lake, S.D., is a 2005 graduate of the University of South Dakota, where she received bachelor’s degrees in political science and criminal justice. She is also a writer for the South Dakota Law Review and a volunteer for the South Dakota Innocence Project and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.
Both Shane and Jennifer just completed their second year at the University of South Dakota School of Law.
Elizabeth just completed her first year at the University of Michigan Law School. She is a 2004 graduate of Macalester College, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in classics. She was a National Merit Scholar, has written a novel and is a native of Menno, S.D.
Andrew, who hails from Vermillion, S.D., just finished his first year at the University of Iowa College of Law. He obtained a bachelors degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2006 in political science and geography. While there, he received the 2004-2005 Outstanding Student Leadership Award.
The summer associate program helps give law school students practical experience using some of the skills they learn in law school, assisting the firm’s attorneys with a variety of matters, including legal research and document and pleading preparation. Summer associates also have the opportunity to help prepare for and attend a variety of legal settings, including closings, depositions, hearings and trials.
