The South Dakota Legislature opened its 2007 session on Tuesday, January 9. Among the members is state Senator and DEHS David Knudson, who was elected majority leader last month by fellow Senate Republicans. The 40-day session concludes its regular business on March 6 with March 26 scheduled for the Legislature to consider any gubernatorial vetoes.
Knudson, who joined the law firm in 1975, is beginning his third consecutive two-year term in the Senate after being first elected in 2002. He represents District 14, which encompasses most of eastern Sioux Falls. Prior to serving in the Legislature, Knudson served as chief of staff for then-Gov. William Janklow in 1995 and 1999.
