Mark Marshall has been inducted as a Fellow of the International Academy of Mediators (IAM), the first South Dakotan to receive the honor.

Fellowship in the IAM is by invitation only. A candidate must be recognized as a preeminent, highly-skilled, and well-respected commercial mediator, teacher, trainer, or ADR professional. The mission of the IAM is to define standards and qualifications for the professional mediator of commercial disputes and to promote the mediation process as the preferred means of resolving disputes.

Marshall has been practicing law since 1981 and joined Davenport, Evans, Hurwitz & Smith in 2000 after serving as federal magistrate judge. He is a panel member of the American Arbitration Association, FINRA Dispute Resolution, National Arbitration Forum, and Resolute Systems, Inc. In addition to conducting mediations and arbitrations, Marshall is an active appellate lawyer and was the first South Dakotan to be elected to the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers.
