Lange Becomes Federal Judge

November 9, 2009

Roberto Lange has resigned from the law firm to assume his position as South Dakota's newest federal district judge.

Lange resigned effective Friday, November 6, and was sworn in that afternoon. Lange joined DEHS as a litigator in 1989 and became a partner in 1993. He handled complex commercial litigation, products liability and significant injury cases, class action and ERISA litigation and other business disputes for both smaller and nationally known clients. His nomination by President Barack Obama as a federal judge was confirmed by a unanimous U.S. Senate October 21.

Lange, a Madison, S.D., native, will sit in the Central Division for the District of South Dakota, headquartered in Pierre. A formal investiture ceremony will be held later this year.
