Davenport Evans Educates on Employment Law

October 18, 2011

The labor and employment attorneys of Davenport Evans recently provided clients with updates on the latest court decisions and legal trends affecting businesses and their employees at the firm’s annual Employment Law Seminar.

Nearly 90 business owners and human resources officials from throughout the region attended the event on September 15. Davenport Evans attorneys educated attendees on a variety of topics of interest to those who hire or manage employees.

The seminar included presentations on how businesses should handle employee social media use by Jean Bender (Social Media 2.0: Texting and Tweeting and Friending, Oh MY!), managing the Family and Medical Leave Act by Sandra Hoglund Hanson (Managing Intermittent FMLA Leave), and avoiding common pitfalls handling worker’s compensation claims by Kristi Geisler Holm (Workers’ Comp in SD: The Basics and Avoiding Common Pitfalls in Managing Claims). Anthony Hohn gave attendees the latest updates on recent court decisions effecting employers (Recent Court Decisions and What They Mean to Employers). Attorneys Timothy Gebhart, Jennifer Keating and Mitch Peterson presented additional seminars on I-9 audits (I-9 Audits and Correcting I-9 Forms), the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments (The ADAAA: Out with the Old, In with the New), and non-competition agreements (Restrictive Covenants: Noncompetition and Nonsolicitation Agreements).

Davenport Evans’ labor and employment attorneys regularly represent both public and private employers and counsel employers in all areas of labor and employment law.
